Tank cleanup that's not an $arm and a $leg?

Post by izaakb »

I have a tank which is in very good shape but has crud and light rust inside, and two VERY small dings on the outside. I've talked to a few places which want $200-300 to clean it out and fill in the dings.

Does anyone know a shop which does this reasonably? I knew of a shop back home in Tennessee which would do a very good job for about $100 but I can't find their contact info.

Just seems like way too much $ for what is about 1-2 hours of work max.

That seems about right in terms of price.

As for the internals, you can do it yourself with por15 - cleaner, etchers, and sealer - to prevent rust and such.

See the MC specific kit at www.por15.com

I used it on a refurbished tank 2 years ago and it's still good. Just make sure you follow the directions to the letter and it should not be a problem.
Ride safe,
