Front carb overflow

Post by Austin »

Hi,I try to make sure I turn fuel taps off when not running but I forgot and the next day fuel was dripping out of air filter none got into the engine a bit into the exhaust
My question is though is this a common problem?

it's a problem if your float needle valves are not sealing up which seems to be the case in your situation... Time to replace them and while you are at it, you more than likely need to replace everything that is soft inside your carbs.

What carb are you working on? PHF or PHM? Either way the needle and seat come together. We keep these in stock.

Yes, and increasingly so. Either the valves don't like modern fuels, or Dell'Orto have changed the spec of the rubber tips.

Who knows/cares ... But replacing the needle part of the valve is getting close to becoming a 'Regular service task' , I'm afraid.
