Float levels

Post by bobnorton »

On checking the levels on my 32's i found both to be about 22mm. I have re-set them to 18. 4mm seems a lot to be out.Is this usual?.

I seem to remember the floats are set with it just touching, not compressing the plungers?

On SSi carbs the fuel level is checked with a tube and a datum, is there a datum for PHF carbs? I'm tempted to set the level 2 or 3 mm below the point where flooding occurs. Has anyone used this method?.

Found a new way to check float level, Allow chamber to fill, clamp hose, remove chamber nut catching all the fuel in chamber. Should amount to 55cc. Adjust float to correct.
