trade del 40s for 32 or 36mm

Post by DUCKGRUNTER »

I am looking to replace my 40mm dels for 32mm or 36 mm carbs. They are on a 1980 Darmah with contis and pod filters otherwise stock. Will i see any performance differences between the 32 and 36 mm carbs. Anyone interested in a trade? I just simply want chokes.

keep in mind that when you go from PHM carbies to PHF carbies (32, 36 that you suggest), you will also need to replace the throttle cables and intake manifolds. IT will be easier to ride the bike around town speeds (lower RPMs) with the PHF carbies as compared to the larger PHM carbs which are suited to wide open / higher RPM. 36mm are available new (I keep them in stock always) while 32mm has not been available new for years. Most people would prefer to run PHF36 for a balance of riding... They seem to work well across the RPM range on these bikes.
