throttle cable lubing

was wondering if anybody has any decent ideas regarding oiling throttle cables,one guy i spoke to said he uses a small funnel and leaves overnight am just curious as normally just squirt sewing machine oil down the cables

Peddle bike shops sell a teflon aerosol cable lube that will get right in there.
