Rusty gas tank cleaning techniques

Post by ajleone »

Anybody have some instructions on using a technique for removing rust on the inside of a tank using baking soda, water and electricity ? I saw a posting on some forum, but can't seem to locate it. Thanks.

I think I saw the method outlined on 650rider.com a Yamaha 650 website. I think it involves suspending an iron bar in the solution and using a low voltage to let electrolysis do its magic but I don't remember what the polarity should be.I think if it's backwards it would try to plate the tank with iron. Hope this helps,Bill

There has been some good discussion on this topic recently on a yahoo forum for owners of MV Agusta_Older_Models. Look for comment by Uldis Stulpins.
