that is pretty much going rate from what I see.
I don;t have access to aircraft style caps. I do have very nicely Italian made caps for ALL Ducati from the 90s up, may fit 888 etc to I just need to take a look, they come complete with the base, hardware and the cap. These do not have a key, just give a twist and there you go. I have 1 in my hands presently and will take a photo later to post.

Martin, You may be able to find a cap assembly like that at an aircraft supply co. that caters to homebuilt/experimental aircraft. Or possibly at an airport maint. facility. The down side is as with things marine the markup may be stiff. It appears that most of the cap setups are made in England and none of them are exactly cheap. Many of the Buell Thunderbolts used a cap like that if you have any in OZ
Cap
I took a wrecked Katana tank.... cut the complete cap out... and weld'd it in place on my tank. Total investment.. wrecked tank.. weld'n.. $100.oo... paint additional. I'v done this on a couple of biles. I used the Katana tank becuase they didn't have a brand name on the lid.
One Lunger.. 350 and 450. Also have a old Triumph and Xs problem.
Martin,
Mike Soderland at Gowys has them.
gaskets etc, give Troy a call.
same as on my NCR tank, they seal real well. I had to redrill the tank breather actually, I got a small bockage and it was creating vaccuum and stopping fuel supply! So they seal well mate.
