450 Mk3 Desmo Racer

Post by b5070 »

Hi,
This is my 450, in the shop -- and on track at Miller Motorsports in Utah.
We're in the process of converting the engine to 350. Short stroke/long rod.
Hoping it will make a good/ high revving little bike -- will post pics of it in its new life !!
Cheers,
Brid.

Nice looking bike. What ignition are you using? and where did you get the belly pan?

Hi Robin,
Using a Dyna - total loss, with twin plug head.
Belly pan came through Malcolme at Syds in Florida.

That belly pan is much nicer than the home made effort on my bike. Does it cover the whole of the sump? because from the photos it looks like it finishes in front of the lower rear engine mount. Considering where it came from I bet it wasn't cheap either :-D

I was thinking of purchasing a Dyna and have heard some good things about them.

Robin,
Can't remember what I paid for the belly pan ?? Just needed a nice looking, functional one. It doesn't quite go right to the back of the sump -- almost !!

Dyna don't make a Duc single unit. Bob Barker sells the "Barker Sparker", which is Dyna parts on one of his backing plates.
Mine is a modified 750 Ducati unit.
It is very simple, and I've heard nothing but positive feed back on the performance.
Just off to Willow, where I'm racing my new B50.
Cheers,
Brid.
