Hello,
I have found the set screw from my front brake lever on my Darmah is missing. I would like to replace it but do not know the size. Can anyone please tell me the size for the set screw ? Any help appreciated. Regards Brad

Hi Brad,

6mm x 24 x 1. The unthreaded section is 10mm long. And don't forget the wave washer to keep the lever snug.

Part no. 0820.39.798, btw. Was originally sold as a kit like this ...

... and still available here:

But in your part of the world Phil at Road and Race will probably have them.

(And it's a socket screw not a set screw. But I guess you knew that already ... :-D )

That little allen head screw [set, grub?] in the lever is either 3 or 4 mm x .7 or .75 it's there to adjust the lever free play. Unusual for them to fall out as they are loctited in and hard to move without rounding out. It looks like the kit Craig shows includes it.

Thank you Craig for the information. I checked the link but they want 90 euros to send to Australia. I will try Road and Race. I have to go to a fastener specialist to replace some stainless with the correct HT bolts so they may have it too. Thank you again for your reply. Silly me I thought it was called a set screw. Learn something everyday. BTW I was at a meeting of Italian bikes the other day and found another genuine SSD. Both of the bikes are Australian delivered and have Australian Design Rules (ADR) plates at the steering head marked 12/1978. Mine has the early higher position gear change and brake lever position. Just thought I would add that in as I saw some discussion about SSD engine numbers on here. :)

Thank you WD for the info. :)

Ah, the wonders of a shared language. It see it's mainly us Brits who call it a 'grub screw', this being a 'set screw' for us:

More important ...

Checked one in a spare lever I have here: it's 5mm x 0.8 pitch and it's 10mm long with a pointed end. And as Bill says: don't forget a small dab of Loctite.

Always willing to have frame and engine numbers plus registration/build date, if you have them Brad :-D .
