no one run Pirelli Phantoms?

Hi folks: Back in the 80's, many of us used Pirelli Phantoms; mine are shot and need replacing after being in storage for way too long. I've scanned the Internet and see that Pirelli still make Phantoms but I'm interested in thoughts compared to today's tires.

I run Pirelli Sport Demon on my Mille MHR, but only in nice, dry weather, and can't compare them with other, modern tyres, because I never use anything else but Pirelli... :vroom:

The Phantom was a good tire in it's day. I had a set on my SS. It has Dunlop GTs but they are old and the bike is off the road. I'm currently running Bridgestone BT45 on my 750GT. Avons are also a popular pick.

Thanks Tim. Phantoms were original rubber for the 81MHR from the factory and they look so good but I guess the times have changed. I can't find the same sizes I used to run on. I just peeked at the Bridgestone BT45, they look pretty good. What sizes do you run on the 750?
I see you've been busy on the forum!

100/90 - 18 front and 120 / 90 - 18 rear

I like AVON AM26 tires a lot. You talk to 10 people and you might get 10 different responses to "whats the best tire to run on my bevel drive"....

Do the Bridgestone and/or Avons run tubeless on the older rims?

You can run them tubeless But! The rims lack the inner hump that keeps the bead seated and stable on the rim and there is a danger of sudden deflation if something happens to unseat the bead while riding. Some people go tubeless and haven't had any issues but the risk isn't worth it to me.
