Replacement Spoke Kits

As a matter of interest, Buchanan's (Azusa, California) carry a range
of spoke replacement kits for almost all vintage Ducati models.

Always remember to post here first before purchasing so other members
can help you get a better price by making a group purchase.

my experience with Buchanans

I have sent polished rims, along with blasted, polished and painted hubs off to these guys to be built up using their stainless spoke and nipple kit. Each time, the wheels have been built up exactly as I spec'd

NOTE: If you send them just a rim and hub to build up, you MUST also send them a sketch with the proper wheel dish, which means you must measure everything before you take anything apart!!!

wheel offset. For example look at the rear wheel on a 10 speed bicycle..... There is a great offset in the hub, the sprocket side is almost straight out, the opposite side the spokes are at a great angle. OFFSET or DISH. Most front wheels have no dish - the rim is exactly in the center of the hub.

Measure the rim relative to the hub. If it is the same on each side you have no dish or no offset............ If there is a difference, make sure you measure accurately, and make sure your wheel builder understands how much on which side....

Thanks Steve, makes sense now, the term dish threw me off track. As a follow up then: What should the offset spec be on my GT with the rear disk conversion using front hub and parts from SS? Jordan
