'74 GT - American headlight vs. "something else"

Post by Peter Tourin »

My bike came with a flat non sealed beam headlight marked "Aprilia". I just bought one of the headlights on eBay from the Netherlands, which Giovanni says are American headlights. It came with a sealed beam light. Did American bikes come with both types of headlight, or is my original one European?

Thanks - Peter

Giovanni was right, Ameican headlamps are and were sealed. The one you have marked "Aprilia" was the original Euro headlamp for your GT as I have same one on my 1974 Sport.

Try to keep and use the Aprilia headlamp as it waaay too cool and every rare these days. I sure hope you still have it.

If you need to have the Aprilia headlamp repaired or resilvered (mirror), then email me off this forum at [email protected] for more information where to send it.
