installing silent hektik ignition on 860 GT elect start

I'm attempting to install S H ignition on 860 GT elect start. I want to maintain the e-start.

Do I need to machine the rotor to fit behind the flywheel?

The instructions about to orient the rotor are really vague. How do I determine orientation of the rotor?
