Drum brake light switch

Post by mizike77 »

My 78 GTS rear brake light switch is sticking. Is this a sealed unit or can it be taken apart? How does one swap out the switch..is it part of the brake cable??

there has yet to be a motorcycle line made that is as satisfying to ride, hear and look at as the ducati bevels

THE SWITCHES FITTED INTO THE REAR BRAKE CABLE CAN BE DISMANTLED.
THERE SHOULD BE TWO NOTCHES EITHER SIDE OF THE SWITCH. DEPRESS THE INNER PART OF THE SWITCH AT BOTH OF THESE NOTCHES AT THE SAME TIME AND PULL THE INNER AWAY FROM THE OUTER.
THERE SHOULD BE ENOUGH ROOM TO DO THIS WITH THE SWITCH ATTACHED TO THE CABLE, BUT IT IS PROBABLY NECESSARY TO REMOVE THE CABLE FROM THE BIKE.
INSIDE THE SWITCH THERE IS TWO BRASS CONTACTS FROM EACH WIRE AND A BRASS DISC. THESE WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE BURNT CONTACTS AND NEED CLEANING UP.
