misfire 860gt

Post by Yosemite »

Hi
just rebuilt my '76 860gt got it started but wouldnt rev stripped and rebuilt carbs ,didnt sort it :( spark was good on both cylinders
for some reason I managed to get the ht leads swapped and the thing still ran(no better or worse than before) :? any way i couldnt work out what was wrong so I swapped them back to check and it ran
eventually i realised that the problem had to be something that linked both cylinders ht systems either the pickups or the relay block in the headlight checked the relay to find that the diodes had blown and were (i think)allowing a pulse from both pickup to each coil any way i changed the relay for a couple of cheapo car relays to keep each coil feed separate
and the bike runs smoothly now to take it for its mot and then ride it :-D
