Removing startermotor on 900 S2 from 82

Post by Per Garbos »

I might have some problems with the starter motor at My S2.
(It can also be the batteri.......)
But is it possible to remove the starter motor without remove the big outer cover first and then avoid drain the oil? It is the old type of starter motor (Darmah)

Best regards Per

Yes, remove the small starter cover & drive chain/sprocket assy. inside being careful not to drop any bits inside the clutch cover.

Thanks for the reply,
When i dont need to drain the oil, and remove the big cover, it is a quite simple operation.

i lean the bike to the right side for a bit, then put a piece of wood 1" thick under the left side of the center stand then it is OK to remove the entire clutch cover if you need to, but you don;t just to remove the starter..
