Wanted rear head for 860

Post by llewdaert »

Hello I am having trouble with sourcing a rear head for my GTS 860 project. I got ripped off already[OK if I looked harder and asked more questions prior to paying...]. Prefer one not cracked but willing to look at what you can offer. I am in Australia.
Pm me please -or email [email protected]

Funny thing those heads.
I only found cracked heads on Darmah and 860, never on the SS.
could it be that they tend to overheat due to the gastank and covers preventing (or at least making it difficult )the hot air escaping at the back ?
I've seen "cures" : drilling/tapping/screwing an ally bolt and grinding it flush, plugs.
Never trusted those solutions but it seems they worked (unless you start to wind the throttle)

The one from my GTS is well cracked, the whole motor looks like it got real hot at least once. The crack is in a position that renders it a [ desperation only] reweld repair.

Thanks to Ray for his email

Still looking for Bill to answer the PM I sent

Still looking at this stage.......
