Removing odometer from 750GT dash

Post by focusrsh »

I want to refinish the dash on a 1973 750GT. The odometer has a shaft with knurled knob (for resetting the trip odometer) sticking through a small hole in the dash. I obviously have to remove it to work on the plastic dash but can't see how. I thought maybe the know unscrews from the shaft but haven't been able to get it off, and gentle pulling on the shaft doesn't work either.

Anyone know?

Pull the shaft straight out of the speedo, no twisting required. At least that's how it works on my '74.
