1972 Orange Metal Flake Colour Code

Post by Jod »

Hello...

Anyone have any clues on the orange/bronze metal flake colour of the early GTs?

After a paint code or name etc.

Cheers!

Jod,

There's a lot more to the 72 metal flake paint than just the colour. There is also the size of the flake, and also the shape of the flake (yes, there are different shapes!). There is a very good (and experienced classic Ducati) painter here in Western Australia that is (as we speak) doing a 72 Blue metal flake for a friend of mine. PM me and I'll put you in contact.

Thanks Kev and Ryan

Got a metal flake painter sorted.

Will soon be getting some orange paint matched from a 1971 GT tank so if anyone wants a litre or 2 let me let me know. No problemo

ive done gt 750 before and the orange I used was tangerine candy . I haven't done a early metal flake in tangerine yet only the blue metal flake and I u,s style black with stripes on the
glass tank and body work. sounds like you have it sorted

I tell you what ryno the tangerine candy looks bloody close! Metal flake is bloody small... like half a millimeter or even smaller...

what year gt are you doing? ive only done the two tone candy red and tangerine with the black stripe. they did not have a metal flake under the candy
I am doing a early fiber glass tank gt 72-73 I think that is a large blue metal flake over the glass tank and side covers

The bike is an '72 with in the black fiberglass tank. Making up another set with a steel tank and repro side covers so looking at the metal flake for something different. It will be either orange or the blue? Any tips on what is the closest blue colour?
