Single seat on 80's SS

Hi fellow Ducatisti,
I'm thinking of fitting the classic single seat to my 81 SS. It looks as if these seats are attached by screws at the side/rear of the seat unlike the 80's frames which have vertical studs ie. the seat base drops on top of these.
So is it possible to fit the single seat without welding extra tabs to the frame ( and maybe having to cut the existing studs down) ?

Hi all,

In answer to my own question and to help anyone else contemplating this, the single seat will not fit without some frame surgery. ie cutting off the spigots and welding tabs on in their place.

Can be done with only minor surgery. My 1982 SS still has the original spigots but with slight alterations.
