Paint 125 racer

I am restoring a 125cc circa 1957 racer. I understand from the reading that I have done that the colour was blue frame - gold other bits (more or less). First question, do I restore back to the original colour or respect the colour scheme of the last bloke to race it? Second question, does anybody know a colour code for the metallic blue and the gold paint that was used back then?
