White Strips on A black 860GT 1974

Post by ratpackleader »

Does anyone have the specifications for strips on a 1974 860gt. I plan to paint my bike back to the original colors which were black with a white stripe on each side and one on the top. I just need to know the exact width of those stripes. Please help!

It's simply amazing that one can learn something new everyday. Here is a link for a profile of the bike. I guess this means that you don't have the information I need.

Hi ratpackleader,

Like nottonight68, I didn't know the GT came in black and white (me, I had a black and gold one).

Anyways ... I'm guessing your paint scheme is the same as this?

If so, you could always ask Phil what width his silver stripes are ...

Thanks, I emailed Phil. I don't know if he owns the bike or just took photos of it. I hope mine turns out as nice as the green 860 in the picture. Sweet Bike!!

Thank again for your help.

You are right Phil owns it and it was done by Tony Hannagan from Beveltech.

yep we can learn something everyday-although i have not been able to find
any info on a 1974 860-perhaps yours is an early pre-production bike-if it is you have something very unique.-the site you quoted in my opinion should not be used as a definitive source of model id as it has heaps of incorrect info and plain heresay-ie they ask for info and photos
perhaps others here can confirm or refute my opinion that the 860 was 1975 onwards-the black and white i think would look great-other bits eg motor side covers can be painted black to compliment
happy restoring-nt68
