Repairing a rev counter

The Nippon Denso rev counter on my MHR is very slow to move, does anyone know of anyone in the UK that repairs these instruments or any thoughts on the problem.
I know the bike has stood for nearly two years so was hoping it might sort itself out with some use.

pull the cable off the back, lift the wheel and give it a spin [the wheel]. Is the cable moving? Try to hold it tight and spin again...... Does it slip or is it still moving...........

This will tell you if it is a problem with the internal cable just getting worn [rounded off at the ends] or if it is the gauge..

Thanks, I have tried that and it is the instrument not just the cable.
I think I might try running it off a drill for a while to see if it will free off.

Ask at any Suzuki dealer who traded in the 70's and 80's.
The ND instruments on the 80's Ducati's are basically Suzuki parts.....

They do but they are not ND (Nippon Denso), they are Nippon Seiki, but it only matters I guess if you are a little anal about originality!! If not, should be a cheaper fix for you

I have found a guy in the UK that restores ND clocks.
If anyone needs his info drop me a PM.

It would be better if you can just post the details here anyway, Andy. That way, if anyone needs to know in the future, they can find it using the search function of the forum.

Just a thought ...

I had an issue with the tacho on my darmah either not working or not indicating true revs. Talked to Phil at R&R and he said something along the lines of a worn bit in the tacho drive rather than the clock. Some times need to solder a bit onto the drive tang as it is worn down. Probably better to email him for an accurate picture of what he described.
I put a new cable in mine and seems to be working fine.
