Re: MHR reg rec meltdown

FWIW I have seen intermittent electrical faults occur where the loom passes the steering head. Issues I have seen were on older bikes and the insulation wears through from years of rubbing around the steering head and electrical shorting occurs when the bars are in the right place and it`s bumpy. Ho...

Re: Ducati diesel

Sorry I can`t get any more info on this. I found it on gumtree for sale while trawling for bevel bits. Caught my eye as this is the first I knew they had a go at diesels.

Re: Fuel taps,GTS 900 1979

I re-kitted the taps on mine with new seals and had no problem. It was a fair time ago but seem to remember that it was important to grease the seals upon assembly or they would roll out of the groove. Was a long time ago but pretty sure that's how it went. The fuel supply issue can be rust and crud...

76 kick starter

Looking for the kick starter knuckle to suit a 76 square case. I have the kicker. Just looking for the knuckle that clamps onto the spline.
Also looking for an S2 tank. Would prefer steel but would consider a good glass one.
PM me if you can help.

Re: Advice please on adjusting head bearing on a 1979 Ducati 900 Replica

FWIW it was once mentioned to me that a great deal of motorcycle front end issues begin at the back. While it`s up on the stand check the swing arm is correctly shimmed with no axial clearance and rear wheel bearings are in fine fettle.

Re: Disc rear end

Tried that one Steve. Very early in all this. Tightened adjustment up so tight that the drum got very hot on one occasion and I had to back off adjustment on the road. As I mentioned earlier when you press the pedal hard you can see that the long pedal does absorb some pressure by flexing. The cable...

Re: 1981 900ss oil leak

Only one way to sort oil leaks. Wipe `em squeeky clean, short rides and close examinations. Wind can make oil go in odd directions giving false clues. Always be certain of where it`s coming from before dis-assembly because once she`s in bits she does`nt leak any more and it`s even harder to find.......

Re: Disc rear end

That`s interesting Ray. While I don`t ride overly hard I have always, on all bikes, used a combination of front and rear brakes to stop. I find back brakes particularly useful in day to day use if traction is of concern. eg white painted lines that are wet, gravel on the road or those frightening ra...

Re: Disc rear end

It was quite some years since I had new shoes bonded to the old girl. The mob that did it were a dedicated brake shop specializing in drum brakes. They took the drum as well and I`m assuming they matched it all up. They recommended a softer shoe material and in short there was little or no differenc...

Re: Bleeding Scarab Master Cylinder

More of a Brembo man myself but they`re all much the same. If you can`t get any juice down to the caliper with vacuum you might have an air leak at the master.........or along the the way to it.

Re: Disc rear end

Had this bike a looooooooong time. Tried new cables, new bonded shoes. Even messed with the cam. Could`nt make it work well. Riding other things now but would like to build her into the Duc I always wanted but still very usable. Slightly 750s but different. Other bits and bobs to come with the rear ...
