wider rear tyre
Has anyone experimented with wider rear tyres on their bevels?. I have read somewhere it can play havoc with steering geometry.

Re: 75 860GT Timing Question
Maybe it`s camera angle or my fading eye sight but the 3rd photo doesnt look TDC to me. The exhaust valve is partially open. Interesting camera angle too..............looks like the camera is on the piston at the bottom of the stroke. At TDC on any given cylinder your cam lobes viewed through your t...

Star stamp
Not really sure where to post this so I`ll put in under chassis. And not sure if I`m being paranoid but maybe someone can shed some light on this. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ducati-Bevel-750-GT-Sport-860-900SS-Open-Star-Frame-Punch-also-singles/332829347814?hash=item4d7e2ccfe6:g:W9cAAOSw8m5bpCqx Th...

Re: 900 Darmah sputtering around 5000 rpm
This is a blurb off Ducati meccanica that lays it out quite simply https://www.ducatimeccanica.com/float_levels.html And here is a handy little booklet on all round tuning and construction of Dellorto carbs https://www.ducatimeccanica.com/dellorto_guide/dellorto.html If your going to do some carb su...

Re: 900 Darmah sputtering around 5000 rpm
Someone told me once the best way to solve carby issues was to start with the ignition. If your Darmah is Bosch ignition the first place I would start is the lead that goes to your left hand engine side cover. This lead runs from the ignition pick ups inside the side cover to the Bosch ignition boxe...

Re: 860GTS into Darmah
Thank you Kilmer for your kind offer and Ducadini for your advise. Sadly the monster I call employment prevented me from getting to the aforementioned Darmah frame, complete with swingarm, stand, rear guard and some pretty shitty plastics in time and it was snapped up for a paltry $500 by another be...

Re: Ducati 900 SS '82 | Front cylinder exhaust running hot
I`m with Gardner on that one. My SS did the same thing and it was the insulation on the ignition pick up wires that had broken down with age. Either way they are worth replacement if they haven't been done already. They will give issues eventually.........

Re: coat exhaust pipes?
I kinda like the bluing of the pipes, makes `em look tough I reckon. But I hear of some people using ceramic coating on exhausts. My understanding is that it has some sort insulating qualities and the surface temp of the pipe is lowered. I have no experience with it however, just passing on what I`v...

Re: 860GTS into Darmah
Thanks for the reply. No, crank is all still where it should be. Im looking at building a bit of a special. Basically along the lines of a 750 Sport but with no side covers and battery mounted under the duck tail. Bit of a minimalist look is what Im after. I`ve been offered a Darmah frame cheap and ...

860GTS into Darmah
Does anybody know if a 1976 860GTS engine will slot into an SD900 Darmah frame? While I`m picking brains is the frame geometry, as in rake, trail and wheelbase similar?

Re: Oil leak by the axel/sprocket
It`s true it`s true Ducadini!!! The only thing I can think of is it was retro fitted by the previous owner. Just went back over my service records for my GTS and I replaced the o ring with the last chain and sprockets replacement. The inside bore of the spacer had been chamfered to accomodate an o r...

Re: Oil leak by the axel/sprocket
Very odd. I`m sure that on one of my bevels that at the back (the inside) of the spacer (part 095) is chamfered off and there is an O ring in there to seal it against the gear. Can`t remember if it was on the 82 model or the 76. In which case the spacer can't be turned around and it would be worth r...

3 or 5 ohm coils
I have stumbled across a Sachse electronic ignition system for my GTS. I note that Sachse suggest 3 ohm single output coils (bike is kick start only) for this application but else where around here I notice that 5 ohm is the weapon of choice. Little confused as I see that heat build up is said to be...
