Re: Improved Alternator for 860GT

My brother gave me the stator and rotor and he told me they were from a SS Darmah. The SS Darmah is rated to put out 200 Watts. Both the stator and rotor are wider than the original stock 860 GT parts, which is why I have the different fasteners on the crankshaft to secure it in place. As I mentione...

Re: Improved Alternator for 860GT

This is what I did to my 860. Basically anything up to 300 watts should fit inside the cover. With the recess in the rotor that flat washer that folds over the flat on the nut was proving to be difficult to install correctly, so I got a metric "shaft nut" with star washer. There is an inte...

Re: 750GT Rolling Basket Challange

I went to Atlanta Area Tech for the A&P course. Is that where you went or does it still even exist? That would be my aforementioned "local tech school." It's still there for now, has caused me many headaches due to the administration. Technical school shouldn't be that hard to deal wi...

Re: 750GT Rolling Basket Challange

They are. I had been over there once to talk about working in avionics after I finished the avionics program at a local tech school. They didn't have any spots available at the time, so I eventually got hired in with Delta working on ground support equipment (still in the same shop to this day). I h...

Re: What type of oil should I use for my 1970 450 Scrambler

The "W" in multigrade oil stands for "winter" which means that is the grade of the oil when it is cold. So in 10W40, the oil is grade 10 when cold, then heats up and acts as grade 40.

Re: 750GT Rolling Basket Challange

"Motogadget components arrived to get started on the electrical system. M-Unit, M-Unit wiring kit, M-Button, 2 Dyna 5 ohm coils (to go with Dyna-S ign.) and Dyna coil brackets for BMW that should work for easier mounting." The M-Unit! I was wondering when someone was going to install one o...

Re: The 2013 Distinguished Gentleman's Ride

This was me at one of the stops on the Atlanta, GA, USA ride. I had the only bevel there and I'm pretty sure no one really knew what they were seeing.
