Re: 860GT Oil Filter Post Thread Repair

Thanks Steve, but this part isn't the problem - it's the threads in the case that it screws into that are stripped. I might have a lead in getting the area helicoiled after all through Ron Young.

Cheers.

860GT Oil Filter Post Thread Repair

Fellow Bevelista, I've recently changed the oil filter on my 860GT and noticed that the filter post threads within the filter housing have essentially stripped. #$%#!!! I've previously used helicoils to repair stripped threads in aluminium, but they are not going to work in this application. I'm aft...

Anyone else participating in the Sydney DGR? Keep and eye out for a silver 860GT with a dapper gent riding it if you do!

Suit up!

All in all, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out as I'm far from a painter; just a designer.

Cheers!

What to do when your Duc is at the Doc

Greetings all, I've recently completed my 860GT project and sent it off to Belt & Bevel (Grant Fuller) for a thorough tune. As I've now got nothing to tinker with, I thought I'd use the time to paint up a matching helmet for the new metal flake paint on the 860. As it happens, I design helmets f...

860GT Freshen Up - It Lives!

Greetings Bevel-Heads, I've finally got around to 99% completing my '75 860GT project, and thought I'd post up a pic of the bike before and after for comparison. I've gone with a non-standard paint scheme, but think it suits the bike rather well. It's not obvious from the photo, but the paint is a n...

Vertical Cylinder Head Crack

Bevelist's, Having found a cracked valve spring seat whilst changing my 860GT's valve oil seals, I figured my luck could only get better - it was not to be unfortunately. Upon cleaning the carbon buildup from the combustion chamber, I noticed a crack in the cylinder head starting at the exhaust seat...

Cracked Valve Spring Seat

Bevelist's, I spent the afternoon replacing the valve oil seals on my 860GT. Whilst removing the intake valve on the vertical cylinder head, I noticed that the upper valve spring seat has a crack in it running from the edge all the way through to the centre. I've had a quick look at the usual bevel ...

Re: Parts recommendations

Bevelist's, I've been a bit slack in posting my reply, but here it is. I managed to get a hold of a set of filters from the great people at Gowanlochs as well as a nice new Deka battery. After a few carb issues I've now got her running but have a couple of oil leaks to take care of - the main one in...

Re: New to Ducati's,But not to motorcycles.

G'Day Ed. Looks like we have something in common - I've just started my first Italian project with, you guessed it, a '75 860 GT. Any chance of some pics of your bike?

Crossover Pipes

A question for the guru's out there, my 860GT has had the crossover pipe removed and replaced with a small straight through pipe into the conti's. My question is, will it run better with this set-up or would I be better off fitting a crossover pipe? Will it matter either way?? I assume the crossover...
