Re: Carb Options an Opinions
Yes I've been looking at the new ones. They are about AU$450 for a pair. Ebay has rebuild kits that have just about every part bar the jet for around $60 for the pair. The current carbs are around 14 years old with minimal use. I have straightened and faced the bowl and the base of the slide body. T...

Carb Options an Opinions
Hi All, My GT has AMAL 930 Carbs. They have been a never ending cause of frustration. When my dad restored the bike about 15 years ago he bought a new set of carbs. They worked fine for a while and ended up just like the other sets we have in a box. The bores and slides warp and the rear one never f...

Re: Front wheel exploded view
Thanks for the info Steve.
I made one up at work the other day on the lathe. Just need some fresh bearings and some good weather.

Re: Front wheel exploded view
Craig it certainly was a lucky discovery, My Dad owned my bike since almost new and he gave it to me a few years back. Its been scuttled down roads, slid under buses and rebuilt numerous times over the years. I replaced the bearings a few years back and I don't recall there being that spacer back th...

Re: Front wheel exploded view
Thanks Steve, I found that manual myself shortly after I wrote the message. Turns out I'm missing the spacer that sits between the bearings inside the hub. You have it on your online store but with the exchange rate, it makes it an expensive piece of metal tube. Fortunately my place of work has a ma...

Front wheel exploded view
Hi Everyone! I've finally got around to fitting a new speedo drive gear to the axle to my '73 GT. The new kit comes with a spacer. I've come in from the shed a little confused and was hoping someone could get me onto an exploded view of how the axle components go on, in order. I'm finding that the b...

Re: Leaking Amal 930's
Yeah I always turn off the taps.......................................... Sounds like a good idea, although I can never remember which way is which on those valves. Obviously down is on, but which way is off and which way reserve (if that is the other option). I will look into adjusting the f...

Leaking Amal 930's
G'day All, My Amals leak. More like seep, from every join in them. The bowl, the bowl drain and the banjo/filter. I tried Amal rebuild kits and I've made my own. Even thread tape and fibre washers don't seem to seal it up. Anybody had this issue? Am I maybe tightening them up too much and crushing o...

Brembo Brakes 73 GT
Hi All, Can anyone direct me on how to remove the piston out of the master cylinder of a brembo brake. My 73 GT has a brembo master cylinder, round reservoir. I cant see a circlip or anything around where it penetrates the housing. Any help would be great. I'll continue to find some info online. Che...

Weight for my weight?
Hey everybody, without going into body weight, spring rate, etc..... What weight oil would be a good starting point for my rear shocks on my 72' GT? I just need something to go with. Around 10w sound right? Cheers. For what it's worth I'm around 80kg.

I was wondering if anyone would reply. Top notch you say? I will have to try that. I've been experiencing the issues you mentioned in your earlier posts.

Sourcing Distributor Parts
G'day All, I was playing around with my '72 GT just now. Iv'e had some issues dialling in the Dyna S ignition system that I fitted a while back. Anyway, I removed all the Dyna components from the distributor and have discovered that the little towers that the two springs attach to have broken off an...

Re: 74 Gt 750 surging
I've discovered that my issue may not be fuel starvation. My main problem was the rear cylinder not firing regularly. I took the cap of the dizzy and played around with the Dyna S adjustment with little improvement. I studied it for a while and then noticed that the static pickup for the rear cylind...

Re: 74 Gt 750 surging
My 72 does the same. I'm thinking it might be fuel related though. But having said that, I've never properly checked the timing after fitting a Dyna S electronic ignition. Just did it be trial and error. Must be close as it rides pretty well.
