Re: Won't idle

Just been reading the woes of engine idling,I had a problem with my GTS not idling correctly. The RPM would go up and down, so we would assume a problem with carburettors/seals etc. Quite by chance I was reading" Guzziology",which mentioned the same problem. My GTS has the Bosch ignition ,the same as...

Re: Bosch pick up replacement.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would share my experience.I bought some new Bosch pick ups, as pointed out at the start of this topic. Just one small problem, how do you set up the new ones, yes the Bosch jig is the best ,but do you really need to spend £200 to purchase one? Anyway had...

New mixture screw, PHF 32

I purchased a pair of mixture screws for my 900 GTS, but could not help noticing the end taper being slightly longer (about a 1mm) than the originals. Two questions, A, were they modified by a previous owner,,B, have they been changed by the manufacturer. The screws came from a genuine Del orto supp...

Re: Fuel taps,GTS 900 1979

Found out since, new fuel sugar type taps are different, the old ones have holes with slight protruding tubes on the holes to keep the seals in place. The new taps don't have this feature just a hole instead The news seals have a moulded rib around the hole, to keep them in place , and this is where ...

Re: Starter motor

Thank you gentlemen, for the prompt input. Most frustrating really, probably happened when I had carburation problems, and there was a large back fire from a cold start. The starter motor was hardly used, and the bearing had done less than a 1,000 miles! I remember reading somewhere, about back firin...

Starter motor

Occasionally ,if I use my starter motor it spins freely and does not turn the motor over, but on the next push of the button it will turn the motor. My bike is a 900 GTS with a Bosch bottom end, same as the Darmah. Could be some thing simple, or more involved. Any input or experience of this , would...

Fuel taps,GTS 900 1979

Having trouble with the sugar cube type fuel taps, these were renewed back a short while ago, my back carb has suffered from fuel shortage. The final straw, was finding that the taps were not shutting off. After dismantling found that the seals on both taps had moved! Anyone have any ideas on fixing...

Re: 860GT head nut wrench and torque setting

I got a 16mm spanner ,and cut it short about 25mm long, then drilled and tapped an M8 hole in the shank which was cut.Take an M8 bolt and using some 638 Loctite, fix the bolt in to the previous tapped hole and screw the bolt up to its head. level off the excess thread , pean over for good measure an...

Re: GTS RIDER FOOT RESTS/HANDLEBARS

Hello Ray, the foot rests have a seratted end which locates to a serattted edge on the frame ,so that you can position them up or down, the part number is 0960.69.200 for the left hand side, the foot rest is the folding type, but if correct,I would be intrested in the pair.
