Re: Pops out of 4th gear

Sounds like its time to check the internal gear box, drive dogs probably rounded off and selector fork worn. I had the same problem years ago on a GTS,you can mess around with the selector box and keep blaming that. But taking a corner at speed and losing drive, does nothing for confidence.Best also to...

Re: Darmah Front cylinder running rich

Yes,I would tend to agree with the foreman.Get out there, and give it a shake down, you could have a worn exhaust valve guide or the guide seal is not happy. Go for a ride, stop the engine, leave it for a while(fuel stop say),and fire the engine and look for smoke from the right hand side. If you have t...

Re: Advice on engine re-install, 860GT

Hello, you are at an advantage with the casings off and with the front and rear cylinders/heads fitted. I would lift the rear of the engine and engage the bottom rear bolt ,and use that as a pivot point and fit the other 2 bolts. That I would find the easiest way. A jack will not hurt the casings, use ...

Re: Darmah Front cylinder running rich

When you say the mixture screw is longer.you mean physically. If that is the case you have the wrong mixture screw.I would say the shorter one is correct.I raised this on the forum before.

Re: Bosch pick up replacement.

Follow up to what I said ,I will make a confession. My GTS on tick over, would idle erractically By pure chance,I was reading "Guzziology",Where it described the exact symptoms of my Ducati, idling erractcally.Moto Guzzi V50 mk2 have the exact same pulsar coils . Most mechanics would reach for the scr...

Re: Won't idle

Just been reading the woes of engine idling,I had a problem with my GTS not idling correctly. The RPM would go up and down, so we would assume a problem with carburettors/seals etc. Quite by chance I was reading" Guzziology",which mentioned the same problem. My GTS has the Bosch ignition ,the same as...

Re: Bosch pick up replacement.

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I would share my experience.I bought some new Bosch pick ups, as pointed out at the start of this topic. Just one small problem, how do you set up the new ones, yes the Bosch jig is the best ,but do you really need to spend £200 to purchase one? Anyway had...

New mixture screw, PHF 32

I purchased a pair of mixture screws for my 900 GTS, but could not help noticing the end taper being slightly longer (about a 1mm) than the originals. Two questions, A, were they modified by a previous owner,,B, have they been changed by the manufacturer. The screws came from a genuine Del orto supp...
