Re: What modern front end will fit a bevel headstem?
Thanks Zanetti. Are these inserts visable with the bike assembled? Could I see the inserts in a photo?
So when you say offset, you are talking about the distance that the centre of the fork leg is in front of the centre of the headstem? Is this the dimention called trail?

What modern front end will fit a bevel headstem?
Anyone have any experience? (Before any heckles get raised this is for an Alchemy so originality does not apply)
I have seen '90's GSXR front ends on Alchemys but I dont know if the Suzuki triple trees are used or if specials need to be made.
Thanks

Re: tight exhaust nuts
CRC sell a 'Freeze and release' product here in Oz, it works a treat. In your application heat the alloy (electric hot air gun is ideal) then spray this cold stuff on the nut. It has worked for me on some real pregnant dog fasteners, I recommend it highly.

Re: Are Japanese Imports really that bad?
My '82 Replica is a Jap import, less than 10,000km when I got it, original paint and I reckon the front tyre was original! It has the lead seal on the crankcase screw and even one on the front header nut. The only differences from an Oz delivered bike I can see are the red line on the speedo from 80...

Bad noises
I have an '81 Darmah engine in an Alchemy frame, it goes like stink but the engine sounds like it is going to fall apart at any time. (I've just bought this thing and am enjoying it before the rego runs out in a couple of weeks, I'll do some fault finding then if it lasts that long). The noise is no...

Re: Electric start to kick start
Thanks all. I am a similar vintage (1960) and tall but I still fold up onto a sportsbike very comfortably. I recently did a 1000km day on my SSD and enjoyed every bit. I have no trouble with kick starting my SS or MHR but the SD is a pain with the starter lever bending around the footpeg. The electr...

Re: Electric start to kick start
Thanks all. I guess my question should have been "Do I need to split the cases to remove/fit the kick start shaft?" Zanetti has answered that. I will not be splitting cases, this is too big a job for me. The reason I did not want to exchange engines was for the originality of the Darmah, (...

Re: Electric start to kick start
Both are Bosch ignition engines. The Alchemy does not have the kick start shaft, I am hoping to remove that from the Darmah and install in the Alchemy. I guess my next step is to have a go.

Electric start to kick start
I have a Darmah with kick start only (modified by a previous owner) and an Alchemy with electric start. I would like to swap the starting systems over.
Is it as simple as swaping the parts from engine to engine? Is there traps waiting for me?
Thanks

Re: Vee Two Australia, Alchemy
Thanks Zanetti. This bike was advertised in Perth as an SV-2, I spoke to the owner who said it was a prototype built by Brook Henry in the late '90's and taken to Oz bike shows to keep interest in the Alchemy going. He also said he had a magazine article backing this up, but he could not produce the...
