They work fine, strong battery is the key for any sprag.
I have fitted quite a few of the 916 style & not had any issues.

Whatever you do do not mix a new sprag with old inner & outer housings.

The 860GTS has the old Ducati stator type ignition.

When they changed it too the Bosch ignition style engine it was called a 900GTS to differentiate between the 2 models as otherwise they were almost the same.

The 900 is a much nicer bike to own mostly due to the ignition upgrades.

I would be checking the ignition 1st on a early squarecase.
They are the major cause of headaches on most of the early ones.

Stuff like cases & heads need to be heated in an oven 1st, then kept at a constant temp for a while. Once the welding is completed they need to be slowly cooled & you wont have these problems unless the welding is directly near the machined area concerned, it will probably need to be re-mach...

Why would you not want to weld it???

Where in Sydney are you??? I have a very good guy that would be able to do it no worries, I have had him weld cases that are smashed & broken before with little fuss or expense.

They need some preload, more feel than measurement though.

Sassi ones are nice, they make them for early & late square case too.

Painting the stripes & Imola decal is easy.

The only things you need to use as a decal is the Ducati & Desmo's.
