Re: Top Speed?

My 80 Darmah equipped with 40mm carbs and Contis ran 200 km/h (speedometer showing), while a friends 900 Super Light speedo showed 220 km/h then ! It is some years ago, because I do not often move my Ducati anymore, but as far as I remember the rev were at about 8500. I am sure, that my Darmah is st...

So, I understand there is no chance to replace that o-ring without pulling out the valve !??
I guess I have to replace, because after 13 years of sleeping the engine smokes a little from the horizontal cylinder......

cheers

@ JAR: before you get another 5-day licence plate and waste more time to discuss with the tester, it might be much better (faster, cheaper) to bring that bike to a Ducati dealer, who is a friend of old Ducatis and tell him to bring that bike "over the TÜV". Most dealers have a contract with a tester...

JAR hopefully I can help you. I do have a 80 Darmah, that was registrated in Germany. It is not registrated for 13 years now, but I just brought it back in order and will show it the TÜV next spring. My Darmah is equipped with LaFranconi Mufflers, that have been bored a little (ø20mm through the fin...

ups.....lots of different statements Sorry for driving this worn sprockets - I must have been crazy 13 years ago and didn't recognize it after bringing it back in operation this year. The idea for high gearing was to preserve the old engine from high revs - especially on german highways, wher...

Here are the pics of the ground parts (housing and shaft/bearing seat). The sprocket was turned to outside, so the grounded shaft seat results from an earlier set up. http://www.funpic.de/fotoalbum/foto,265043.htm I will definetely switch to an 15 sprocket and put a ring beneath the rear sprocket fo...

Your ideas are the best - that is exactly, what I intended to do now.

I found a 15 teeth sprocket in my garage and will mount it.

Is a 106 link chain o.k. for the 15/36 drive ? Or would I need to shorten it ?

Cheers

Hi Martin !

That was my idea, too (just learned a new english word = lethe) It is just grease - sorry for not cleaning the case  But because of the 16 teeth front sprocket the chain comes really close to the housing.

Reassembled the chain and rear sprocket today - now I know what you are talking about - see the pictures http://www.funpic.de/fotoalbum/foto,264660.htm Is it necessary to place distance pieces behind the sprockets or could I also use another chain size (e.g. 525 type) ? Looks like I should replace t...

I purchased a sprocket with 36 teeth shortly, but did not mount it yet. It is made of aluminum (found that a little strange, since today sprockets are made of (surface hardened) steel). The sprocket is the same as it is (originally ?) mounted on my '80 SD. I want to change the chain too. The (mounte...

Hmmmm.......I could count to 12 within 2 seconds or within 12 seconds or even within a day  ;) "normal" german counting to 12 will happen in about 4 seconds :) (just tested it) Nevertheless - I adjusted both floats and soldered a SS washer on top of one tickler (to enlarge the concact surface...

ups.....Australia is awake 8) I did push the tickers a few times too back then, but it should not make a difference, since you just open the float valve. It might even enhance the wear on the floats plastic surface I will get a workshop manual especially for Dell' Ortos (in German) soon. Hopefully I...
