Re: MHR Mille pistons

Another 1100km this weekend and it's running sweet, 715km on the Sunday alone and my arse hurts like I've been repeatedly kicked in it, think the seat could do with some work

Re: MHR Mille pistons

Had the 5th gear from the MHR dropped off to me which I was taking to a mate at Air NZ to see if they could do anything with it, driving down the road I had to pass Duralloy so thought I'd give them a look at it, $60 per tooth to repair and there's 30 teeth with most needing a repair, they can make ...

Doesn't mean that they need it, a good quality 428 should be easily enough, I've seen them used on 40 -50 hp bikes and 70-80 hp 250 Superkarts

520 chain gets used on 180 hp bikes with no problems I would have thought it was overkill

Re: MHR Mille pistons

I went and picked these up from being replated yesterday, that will be $895NZ thank you very much and that was with a good discount on what I was originally priced due to the owner being a bit of a Ducati man himself having both a Darmah and a rubberbandy thing http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7131/751...

Re: MHR Mille pistons

Good to see you are getting close to finishing the "disaster" recovery. Head cleaned up ok considering the damage. Regards, $800NZ to get to that point and 25 hours of his time, luckily I'm paying "mates rates" and not full workshop rates There's still a barrel to replate (maybe...

Hey Kick, You may get a shock when you price a set of liners ! they are not cheap !!! Explore the replate as an option ! Cheers Rick I have an Ducati friendly engineer who can make the liners, the material isn't every expensive as we can buy "blanks" and machine to size $562 to replate pe...

pretty slow progress due to a lack of funding but the head should be done in the next week or so When my engine dropped a valve it damaged one cylinder slightly The engineer doing some of the work has suggested fitting cast liners rather then replating as for less than the cost of replating one cyli...

The engineer who is repairing the head rang today as he is final getting around to repairing it

It was actually the nut that holds the top bevel gears together that had come loose which lets the gears move and altered the valve timing which allowed piston to valve contact and the resulting damage

I had no problem with 40mm on my Darmah but low speed was a bit snatchy and fuel economy was pretty crap even after rebuilding and balancing them

I haven't ever ridden another Darmah with 32 to compare though

If I had another stock 900 I reckon I'd try the 36mm or a Mikuni conversion
