Re: 81 SS fresh engine

After this busy weekend is over I'll show what was done with the oil pump and filter in the engine and transmission section. I can just add to my
post about better oil flow to the sump.

81 SS fresh engine

Two rides and 60 miles on a rebuilt engine that came from a crashed Darmah. Engine oil system is modified so all oil is filtered before going to the crankshaft and heads. The primary gears and cover are Brook Henry VeeTwo items but the dry clutch is from a Ducati Monster adapted to fit. Really makes...

Re: Dot on new tire lightest spot?

Never seen a dot on a Avon Roadrider, and I've put a lot of them on. Balancing has always been pretty easy.
Go for it!

Re: Overweight Wiseco 87mm Pistons

Thank you Jock, I used the Wiseco pins but faced them off to stock length using black ceramic inserts. That center Wiseco piston from the 90's looks a lot closer to stock with the skirts machined off and a shorter pin. So now it looks like they had it right at one time but radically changed the desi...

Re: Overweight Wiseco 87mm Pistons

Whoops, 90 degree v-twin you only balance for one piston/rod assembly. Still, 100 grams seems excessive for a replacement piston.

Overweight Wiseco 87mm Pistons

Four years ago I pulled my SS engine over the winter and bored the cylinders for 87mm Wiseco pistons. Online research revealed crank balancing would give a smooth running engine. Others said all they did was bore cylinders, swap pistons and the engine was smooth as ever. I decided to go the quick an...

Re: neutral switch bracket

I made some extras when I made mine. There are some differences depending on year, model or the day the bike was made.
Some had 1/4-28 threads and some have no threads, might be a metric variation also.

Better Oil Flow to the Sump

While rebuilding crash Darmah's engine I decided to use a variation of Kevin Brackens oil flow solution found in his excellent article - https://www.ducatimeccanica.com/kevin_race_engine.html and another oil flow idea from an unknown author found here - http://www.webgrafex.com/roundcase/ducati/Inte...

Re: 75 860GT Timing Question

You can usually see the timing mark with a small light while rotating and looking under the washer.
I have heads off that are assembled at the shop that I can line up the marks and take a pic to compare to yours in the morning after breakfast.

6 dogs walk into a bar, 3 short and 3 tall.

Hi guys, I'm building an engine from a crashed 78 Darmah to swap into my SS while I build it's engine. Right now I've been working on the transmission repairing dogs and undercutting them. The gears are 6 dog - 3 short and 3 tall and I can see where there could be some slipping going on when 3 short...

Re: Let's see some pics!

The exhaust is a 2 into 1 Conti with a good bark that came with the bike. I think you could drop a golf ball through it. I tried the Tarrozzi rearsets for a few years which made kickstarting a lot easier with an SS type lever but have since changed back to the stock pegs and starter lever. Drilled d...

Re: 860GT Right Side Cover...stuck??

These two are the only ones kinda hidden.
There are 2 locating dowels so it won't move sideways just pretty much straight at you.
