Re: biggest ever bevel engine?

Lucky is a mate of mine and he is about to crank Merlin up again in a bike for dirt drags.
Also working on a V12 Meteor (land based Merlin) in a speed car destined for the salt flats along with his Merlin 2 streamliner.
From memory, he cut the 2 cylinders off a wrecked engine.

Re: 750 Tank - Single or two colour?

Hi Tom, Not sure of your question about matched frame and engine numbers but the numbers weren't matched in respect that if you had a bike with matching frame and engine numbers, it would be an absolute rarity. To see if your numbers are in the ballpark, go to Bevelheaven main site and look in the l...

Re: Mille S2 Oil Filter

G'day Vince, The Mille S2 will have the same filter as all belt drive Dukes. The MHR Mille has the same engine and takes the belt filters. No change to fitting size as they came from the factory that way. Exception was the earlier MHR 900 transition model as it had the odd filter. You can get 2 diff...

sk! I wish you'd be a bit more controversial, Bob - this is an oil thread, after all  . Do you think we should warn Bruce about the risk he's running, what with all that detergent in his diesel oil? Craig, I think we need to see the FINAL outcome of all that detergent on the young lady first ...

Re: Introduction Charlies Duck

What's with the duck thing? Mine doesn't have feathers. G'day Bruce, It is an American thing as we call them Dukes here in Oz. Think they call Guzzis "gooses' as well. Both waterbirds but my Dukes definitely DON"T like water although my Guzzis seem to handle it! Come to think of it, I hat...

Re: 1978 900SS rebuild - oil?

G'day Craig, Just to keep the pot boiling ... just a bit more!!! Main issue is with the industry blokes' statements is that modern metallurgy has overcome a lot of wear issues and modern oils plus modern metallurgy equals better fuel economy, longer oil changes etc. (a lot forced by government laws ...

Re: 1978 900SS rebuild - oil?

Kev, You are dead right about the cost factor. I should have clarified what I said about the Hi-Tech Racing 50 oil Ron Young specified as used in his race engines. The Tart doesn't have an ordinary 750GT engine hence why I run her on the higher spec oil. My others bevels don't have Hi-Tech in them. ...

Re: 1978 900SS rebuild - oil?

You can't lump Penrite and a lot of other oils together. One selling point of the Penrite oils is that they have a higher level of ZDDP in them compared to other brand oils of the same rating. I have a heap of Penrite in the shed and have used it for years in cars and bikes as well for that reason. ...

Re: 1978 900SS rebuild - oil?

Hi Steve, It all has to do with the zinc and phosphorus levels. The SG rated oils had the correct levels for our older bikes but with the proliferation of energy/fuel efficient requirements for cars etc., they dropped the levels as you quoted to stop catalytic converter contamination as well as drop...
