+1 what Steve just said. If bike will not idle (assuming carbs balanced and jets are correct and valves are adjusted correctly), first, most likely culprit is a vacum leak. Places where this can occur is, as Steve says manifold gaskets, manifolds themselves, and any of the places where air can come ...

Hey Martin....Had one all the time, even before my SSD....By the way, the thing with Timeserts is the insert itself costs nothing (relatively speaking), but the specialized tool(s) to install them (tap, reamer, handle, insert setter) are expensive, for as much use as you will put them to. I have a s...

Same thing happened on my 900SS. You can either use lots of grease on the tap as stated above, or remove the head, but I would definitely Timesert rather than helicoil. Threaded steel insert make a permanent and more positive repair, and i will not back out (if one properly) when unscrew the plug, a...

Spark Plug Gap
I have always had a problem with my 900SS idling. It has 40 PHM dellortos, and while it would idle if warmed up, the idle was not real reliable. I started playing with the fuel air mixture and the spark plug gap. Bike started out with a .7mm gap, and I first decreased it to .6mm which did not help. ...

O-ring Dipstick
I recently purchased an O-ring dipstick off of Ebay which, in California parlance, is "slicker than snot on a doorknob". This dipstick consists of a threaded ring that screws into the threaded hole on the engine case (where the stock dipstick screws in), and into this threaded ring inserts...

Pricey is a tad on th heavy side of 700 bills Australian (400 bills American), and this includes shipping from AU....but, as I said, worth it. Foam is firm, but not too firm, and that all day ride things is a trick question, since anyone remotely familiar with the early Darmah seat would realize no ...
