Maybe your start technique needs to be changed. I put my foot at an angle to avoid hitting my shin. The SS bikes had folding foot pegs and a different shaped kickstarter to avoid the problem but I have now idea how you would be able to find the set. Proper priming can help avoid excessive kicking. If taking it out and puttting it back in broke it. you should do the same thing to fix it!! I would look at anything you might have disconected to remove the head light like, the head light socket or the parking light. Good luck Alan
