I replaced my tube orings twice before I examined the grooves. The casting in the back of the groove was pitted (probably that way since new). I cleaned the areas and added high temp silicone to the pitted areas only, installed the new oring and no more seeping. Apparently the oil was migrating arou...

SOLD 74 750 GT
1974 750 GT $8500 SOLD I purchased this bike in 2001 from a friend who wanted it to have a good home. It has never had the seal broken on the bottom end and mechanically it needed new spark plug threads so I had the heads done and put it back together with new gaskets. In 2002 after a 1000miles and ...

Thanks for the input, very interesting! I had to convert my charging system to a Detronics because I (self inflicted) shorted my stock voltage regulator while cleaning terminals several years ago. Recently my battery needed replaced so I put the 2 year old Oddessy battery from the Guzzi in until I g...

125# rear, 127# front. Don't know how to do a leak down test. I have valve guide seals in the top end gasket set I bought from you. Can they be put in without pulling the heads? I think if the plugs were wet looking when I pulled them and it was just fuel wet they would dry out. These still look wet...

oil question
I have also been using Castrol 20w50 for the last 30 years. I still use it on everything except my 74 750 GT. I've been using Aeroshell 100 (50w) for the last 12,000 miles. It may crater tomorrow but so far so good. I do not do much cold weather riding (less than 60 degrees) as we don't have much wi...

74 750 GT Kickstarter Shaft Seal renewal
First, order a 20mm x 26mm x 4mm oil seal (Chicago Rawhide 7854) from Pervis Bearing. I think the seal was $4.00 and the shipping was $6.00. Still, cheaper than you could order it from Ducati if they even had one! Then buy a small package of 4x3/8 flat Phillips head screws from Lowes. You will proba...
