Re: 65-67 Mach 1

Its a later frame and engine A widecase with probably the correct stand for that model. No matter still a desirable little bike with hopefully a bit more reliability than the Mach 1.

Re: 860 gts cams & followers.

Look re-usable to me. A clean up with a smooth oilstone,a coating of cam lube. I would check the oil supply ,particularly in the primary casing where oil flow can be lost if the transfer arrangement from oilway to crank are messed up by the omission of a washer that will allow the oil to go straight...

wrong carbs

A pal has built a special using a 900 Darmah motor and fitted it with a pair of PHF carbs from a Laverda Jota!, These do not have idle speed screws. I don't think he will get this to run sensibly. Any thoughts?.

Re: Slides and ramps.

Hi Steve. My guy did the job in no time and did not distort the slides, However we are talking a pro machinist of 50 years (or more) practice, who also makes his own engine parts for 4 cylinder veterans when he's got a break from production runs .If only i had his talents!!.

Re: FAQ: clutch pushrod order info

Hi Spagjet, Thanks for your comprehensive reply, I have fitted a long arm and its set at the end of the slot (extra ball or roller in there somewhere),this also means that the arm retains the short rod if the cable breaks. My main problem was the retaining in position of the end fittings while fiddli...

Re: Request for advice reference slipping clutch

In theory the clutch springs should all be of equal strength so the clutch should lift and grip evenly. Mine did not. had to pack out 2 springs to get the clutch to lift and settle back properly. Also the pushrod can seize and not allow the clutch to settle back .

Re: Just can't get it started!

My 250 needs to be dripping fuel to start, When i have not had a choke fitted and no tickler i used to lay the bike over to flood the carb, When it won't start what does the plug look like?,wet or dry?.

Re: Just can't get it started!

Should not flood (drip fuel) unless tickler used. Check that first, But my suspicion is poor ignition, duff plug, weak spark, points, check spark in the dark for blue color.

Re: header interchange??

My GTS came with stainless headers and a reciept for Darmah pipes. they do not fit, they have insufficient kick up and foul the rear brake shaft, they also make removing the oil filter difficult. Its very possible that they are NOT Darmah. Just be carefull. They will be cut and welded.

Re: Accelerator pump non return valve test

Thanks Steve, yes its the one with the plastic ball . Ball is free but valve will not lift with my amount of puff!!.Found another way to measure pump output. Remove jet tube from side of carb, block hole thats in the throat , operate throttle and catch the fuel that pours out from side of carb and m...

Re: Float levels

Found a new way to check float level, Allow chamber to fill, clamp hose, remove chamber nut catching all the fuel in chamber. Should amount to 55cc. Adjust float to correct.
