Took my first ride on it today. Still has some issues that need to be addressed, but at least it moves under it's own power for the first time in ages. Starts first kick too! http://www.teamyikes.com/160/Pics/IMG_4212_l.jpg http://www.teamyikes.com/160/Pics/IMG_4216_l.jpg http://www.teamyikes.com/16...

I have yet to be in a modern Ducati dealership that will bother with a '91 907ie let alone a mid 60s single. No, they can't get the old parts from Ducati and the vast majority have zero interest in finding where they can get them.

Hopefully the guy who did the original work didn't rebuild the engine. If he can't even be bothered to put an exhaust gasket in it, what are the chances he got all the shims back in, let alone the correct sizes in the correct locations???

Not found any major damage apart from a chunk of casting inside to the rear of one casing that has obviously been broken and repaired at some time. http://i902.photobucket.com/albums/ac223/hititfaster/Castingrepair.jpg That will be the boss for the kickstart shaft. They have been known to break in ...

If I turn my SSD off at the kill switch she shuts down fine no backfire nothing , turn her off at the key and its a hole new ball game . Its like as if the igniter boxes get a spike and hence they discharge causing a pre-ignition Should add the Millie does it as well Marty Just a guess, but the kil...

If Dyna's are fitted, how is the mounting setup? I made a pretty simple "H" shaped bracket and put them under the tank. there is barely enough room for them so you have to make it as tidy as possible and maybe tweak the angle they're mounted at a little. http://www.teamyikes.com/Resources...

My 750GT with Dyna ignition does this too. Kind of disconcerting but nothing's wrong.

the link wouldn't work even with the correct tags - it's not an address to a photo. A correct picture link will end in .jpg or .gif Is one of the tanks the red and silver one shown on the album cover? The tank on the album cover looks to be from a scrambler? Not my favorite tank, unless it's on a Sc...

The 160 used a 420 chain... at the very least some of them did. People have converted them over to the wider chain for various reasons, not the least of which is good luck finding a sprocket for the front in the 420 size. If you find any let me know... I'm pretty sure Domiracer has rear sprockets to...

Re: timing marks/TDC

The timing marks of the bottom end line up every 3 turns of the crank, but all the marks (including those of the bevels) line up only every 6 turns. Yep. They do that. If you figure out the gear ratios of the bevel gears it all makes sense. They do that to keep the same pairs of teeth from en...

I'm assuming the '68 is set up basically the same as an earlier bike? On an earlier bike the cam gear has 28 teeth, the top tower shaft gear has 20 teeth, the lower tower shaft gear has 30 teeth, and the crank gear has 21 teeth. If you do the math you'll see the final ratio between crank and cam is ...

I had all the black stuff powder coated on mine. If it had been a serious restoration I'd have painted them but powdercoating was relatively cheap and easy, so I went with it. You need to go with someone who knows what they're doing though. The coater needs to know what needs to be masked and has to...
