Re: 78 Darmah Silentium vs Conti mufflers

Although I have never heard Silentiums myself I believe thats the whole point of them. They are quiter and might might cost you a bit of power too. However I, and many others, have always found a bevel drive singing through a set of Coti`s to be a beautiful sound. Change your neighbours not your muf...

Re: Rear brake linkages - 900ss

Not sure where you are but these are on Australian fleabay. https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/373684574449?hash=item57015618f1:g:8LMAAOSwCP5hF5v0 I like to surf the worlds eBay`s looking for bargains. I would imagine the rod would be fairly easy to drill and tap some bar stock and then heat and bend to sh...

Re: Removing spokes from front hub - 750 Gt

Apply a bit of heat perhaps. If you have heat gun, hold it nice and close to the alloy next to the spoke. When the ally is to hot to touch tap the end of the spoke with a hammer. If your not re-using the spokes cut them fairly short so you can tap the a little harder.

Re: Clutch Grabs Violently on Fresh Engine

Did you get this issue sorted Herbg? Interested to know the outcome as I will be fitting a new clutch to my 860 in the future and was thinking of the 1425 Surflex upgrade. Still wondering if to re-use my metal plates and just put new fibre plates in.

Re: Hi from Switzerland!

That my friend, is the offending cap screw. I was about 2 hours from home and began to get gear shifting issues. Finally I got it into 3rd gear but I could not shift it further. I rode about 15 kms like that to a service station and managed to shift it into 5th gear while on the centre stand. I was ...

Re: Hi from Switzerland!

Not sure of the time line of the selector mechanism`s of bevel drive Ducati`s. What I do know is that the selector mechanism on my 82 SS is nestled behind the the clutch drum. I had an instance when the cap screw (from memory it was counter sunk) that held the fork had come loose. It caused the gear...

Re: Newer PHM40's with white floats.

Your a little short on info regarding poor running. Someone once said to me that most carb problems start in the ignition. That is, carbs are often blamed for ignition issues. Have you checked carb balance? Comprehensive run down here: http://forum.bevelheaven.com/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=10 Simple ...

Re: So close, 81 MHR

I`m building a bit of a cafe racer special based on my old 860. So far I`m only at the parts collection phase which has been going on for some years now. I`ve set myself a goal that I have to finish an old 1952 Panther that I`ve had for some time. It`s been a very difficult Reso. Parts for her were ...

Re: So close, 81 MHR

I reckon I can see every minute of your 29 years labour in there. Thats immaculate!! Regarding your idle, I always used to aim to get the tick over as low as I could. There`s something beautiful about slow tick overs on big twins....................until it stalled a few times sitting at lights in t...

Nice work!! So did you use the internal parts of a Monster oil pump and make your own pump body?

Wow!!!! Thats nice!! I`d be interested to know how you went about your full flow filtered oil system. I`m about to attempt something like that on an old GTS I`ve had for years. I`ve been slowly collecting bits and pieces for this project for years and nearly have all i need to get started........jus...

Re: 81MHR idle and run issues: slide wear?!

The melting waxy substance I spoke of gentlemen was from the original ND coils, not the Bosch transducers. Oddly the coils still worked fine, but they were my first suspect for the issues I had and were replaced first up.

Re: 81MHR idle and run issues: slide wear?!

I never had any luck with iridium plugs on my 82 SS. It became harder to start and bizarrely would let a POP!! out the exhaust just by turning on the ignition. Quite odd I thought so the old style went back in. I would look at replacing the wiring from your pick ups to the Bosch boxes. I had to repl...

Re: 900 GTS Tachometer

Oh, forgot to mention. If you do do into the front bevel cover, make very sure that the drive peg and little locating sleeve are securely in place and can't escape. You`ll see what I mean if you go in there. If the drive peg escapes while running it could be pretty catastrophic to your cam timing......
