MHR backfiring through carbs

Just to say that it was exactly as Bill suggested, the timing rotor has shifted, I stripped it out set the timing carefully again and it is now running better than ever before.

Hi Alan, I did the same on my 82 MHR. Not sure of the problem but check the wiring maybe the wrong way around.

Hi All, I was in the process of taking my MHR to a local classic bike meeting and whilst riding there a I passed a car missed a gear and revved it a bit nothing serious and the bike starting missing and back firing through the carbs. Hi Barry, it is an aftermarket Rita electronic ignition, the pick up is off the rear cylinder bevel drive.

Thanks Lumpy, will check it out this weekend, I think my parts ordered from Steve are at the Post Office.
These forums are great, it is like many years experience on a problem before you have even looked at the problem.

Hi Geoff, that's what I think happened to the fairing in the past! I actually prefer the bike with no fairing but would like to finish off the job

MHR fairing paint removal

Does anyone know of the best way to safely remove the paint off the fibreglass fairing on the MHR. The paint on mine has cracked and bubbled, I suspect it has been repainted without removing the previous layer. At this stage I plan to sand the paint off by hand but that is a tedious process.
