Re: 900 GTS Paint Questions

Hi As I said in earlier post I managed to get hold of a set of original transfers for the sides of the tank. The 2 files below join together to give you the exact shape of the transfer and when I print it the size is correct also. http://www.dociom.org/extfiles/tankblock1.pdf http://www.dociom.org/e...

Re: 900 GTS Paint Questions

Hi I actually managed to acquire an original set of grey transfers for the sides of the tank so can provide exact measurements. The top and bottom pin stripes are 5.5mm wide. The gap between the top pin stripe and the central block is 4mm and the gap between the bottom pin stripe and the central blo...

500 Sport Desmo

Just acquired this bike a month or so ago. It had been standing for a while so new oil + filter, new plugs + caps, new tyres, new brake pads & new silencers as these were missing but I found some in Italy. Carbs needed cleaning as did petrol tank & taps. I also replaced petrol pipes. It is n...

Hi Mike I have just about finished sorting my 1979 900GTS. It had virtually no wiring when I bought it and I managed to get a loom and all the switchgear to sort it out. I spent a lot of time and effort researching the electrics on these bikes and the only problem is that there was not a lot of cons...

Hi Mart I have just about finished a year long project rebuilding a 1979 900GTS so have a lot of knowledge that may be of help to you. Although I live on the Isle of Man I have friends and family in Essex and visit often. I have a complete loom from a 1978 860/900GTS. PM me if you are interested. St...

Hi. I acquired a 1979 900GTS last year and have been restoring it to it's original glory. Hopefully it will be back on the road next month. The dash on yours is exactly the same as mine. The early ones had a switch for the horn (city/country) on them but this is the correct one for the bike you have...

Hi Andrew I am fortunate to live on the Isle of Man and I do have a bevel (1979 GTS) along with a few other Ducatis. Along with a friend I run the local branch of the Ducati Owners Club here so if you ever get yourself organised feel free to PM me for any help I can give you. I also belong to the lo...

Irridium Spark Plugs - 900GTS

About to replace spark plugs in my 900GTS and wondered if there was any advantage or disadvantage in going for irridium ones.

Wondered if anybody had experimented with Irridium spark plugs or had any thoughts?

Hi Dave Thanks for your comments. I do tend to agree with you that Ducati did not necessarily stick to exactly what was published as "original". I think they did as you said and used what was available at the time. I guess the late 900GTS was bound to be a bit of a mix of the 860GTS and th...

Late 900GTS Wiring Diagram

Hoping someone out there can help me. I have a very late (1979) 900 GTS. A previous owner had removed the wiring loom and most of the switches and lights and replaced them with a home made abomination of parts. I am trying to restore it to near original and have managed to get a correct loom and swi...

Visitors to the Isle of Man are always to be encouraged and if you like the older bikes then the Manx GP is for you. You get to see Ducati singles race around the TT course - sounds fantastic.

It is a privilege to live here :-D
