Re: New mixture screw, PHF 32

There are two types of Phf 32 mixture screws. One for the as/ad models and one for the later cs/cd models.

The c series have a fine cylinderical point at the end. Perhaps you have those?

Re: Ducati brake caliper with Ducati logo

Scarab calipers came at various times with "SCARAB ", "DUCATI" or "MOTOR SCARAB MOZZI" on them. All are valid on the round case bikes that used scarab callipers.

Re: 1981 900ss oil leak

That's where oil lands if you have a leak from the oring between the head and the cylinder. Push some rag between the lowest head cooling fin and the highest cylinder cooling fin above where the oil is collecting and see if you have oil there.

Re: 70's MV Agusta 750

the beauty of these machines is they give their own characteristic ride that modern bikes can't do. All three in that photo will give a lot of enjoyment to someone who tries them. That sum's it up better than I could have. I will say however, that MV seat is the most luxurious thing I've parked my ...

Re: Lockheed caliper interchangeability

The simple answer is I think the Lockheed is a better brake and I like to stop. I keep the Scarab on the shelf so when I'm too old to ride a 750 Sport the next owner can make his own choice. Just my opinion after 35 years of continual bevel riding. Nothing more than that, really.

Re: Lockheed caliper interchangeability

I don't know about Lockheed's fitted to round cases out of the factory. I think people often over estimate the Ducati factory "inconsistency" argument. What is indisputable is that the rear disk brake on the 74 SS Green Frame was a three fin Lockheed. The fronts, were, however, were Scarab...

Re: Shox for '74 Sport

They will work fine. If you want to confound the rivet counters, paint the preload adjusters the same silver as the bodies rather than black, and the springs had the same black paint splatter treatment as the forks. I'm not in front of my bike right now, so just my recollection. There's many others ...

Re: Shox for '74 Sport

Yes 305. You'd take your mudguard out with 275. Right shape and look for a 74, wrong length. I believe some Brit scramblers (BSA?) used 300mm units. They can work OK.

Re: Shox for '74 Sport

If you Google Marzocchi A73 Euro 74 you should find something. The shocks changed 73 to 74.

Mine is a 74 Sport, but I think the headlight is the same. They are not the dimensions on mine. I'll take a pic.

Re: 70's MV Agusta 750

I don't have Ian's experience of riding them, but I have ridden a friends on a few occasions, usually swapping with one of my Ducati twins. My friend's has the factory "Big Bore Kit". Given the bike swap, I tend to compare them to my Ducati's I've just stepped off. I would describe them as...
