1966 Scrambler rear shocks

Possibly looking to replace the rear shocks on my scrambler, anybody know a good source for the replacement. Additionally, if I don't replace the shocks, am looking for information on rebuilding the original adjustable shocks, articles, pictures, etc.

Thanks

Re: Fellow Ducatisti

Tim, I have completely found out my issue with these forks and have found why and where the bearings go. If your forks are the original 31.5 Marzocchi forks, I can help you out on the rebuild. It's relatively simple once you know how and where the bearings go. If you need my help, get new fork seals...

Re: Fellow Ducatisti

Tim, I did find the answer to my questions about the front forks, not from the forum but from an individual I was referred to from a parts vendor. Here is what I found; It appears that there is nothing that holds the little ball bearings in place and there is no function, bad design!!! Cannot verify...

Re: Fellow Ducatisti

Welcome to the forum Tim, If you have any experience with 1966 Ducati motocross scrambler, single bevel head 250 Marzocchi front forks, please, let's talk. I am restoring this bike and cannot figure out the reason for, or the what keeps the balls in place at the bottom of the slider. I too live in S...

Re: 1966 Scrambler Fork question

Thanks again, Ducadini. I talked to the previous owner,(close friend and first/only owner of the bike) he says the forks have never been apart. Thanks for the offer to send parts schematics, would love the information if it's different than the ones I see in the parts catalogue and maintenance manua...

Re: 1966 Scrambler Fork question

When working on +50 year old stuff (those forks were used earlier also), no need to rush anything or anybody. Not everyone has constant access to the net, and even fewer know/remember anything about these things. Even I occasionally tend to take the easy way and start asking around, instead of sitt...

Re: 1966 Scrambler Fork question

Somebody out there must have an answer, or theory!!! I am really wondering if I need to put the ball bearings back in and figure a way to secure them or can they be left out. Guess there is supposed to be a washer covering them and then some kind of slip ring to hold the washer in, just don't know. ...

1966 Scrambler Fork question

I am currently restoring a 1966 250 motocross scrambler. Upon taking the first front leg apart, I noticed most of the little 9 - 1/8 " ball bearings that go in the lower leg bottom are missing, only 2 are present, the other 7 are MIA and I am guessing they are powder and part of the sludge that...

Re: New to the forum from El Cajon, CA

Thanks again PK. I now have them all saved for future reference. Should start buying in a month or so, need to get the frame coated and then I can start buying things to put back on. I dismantled the bike mostly yesterday, and found out that I will need a rear brake switch for sure.
