Re: removing trip meter reset knob?

Thanks Steve!
Felt like it was just spinning and spinning but it was apparently already loose. Spun right out.

removing trip meter reset knob?

I am replacing the gauge housing on my Sport and assume there is a simple way to remove and reinstall the reset knob for the trip meter to drop the speedo down in the housing? Asking BEFORE I snap it off trying incorrectly!

Thanks in advance as usual!

Daron

Re: 1974 750 sport/GT bits wanted

I was planning on making one too if I didn't find one. The two key details are the tabs that hold it straight where it mounts along with the tank and the two notches that keep the ignition cylinder from spinning in the bracket. Good luck.

Re: 1974 750 sport/GT bits wanted

I found one after many a wild goose chase. A buddy gave me one! Here are the photos for reference requested. Mine is a late 74 by VIN and since I think there are two different ignition switches and since my parts bin had this one I wanted it in the under tank location. Hope this helps!

Brembo calipers and Marzocchi forks

Help! Pulling my hair out on this one. My basket case 74 Sport came with Marzocchi triples and lowers with unthreaded caliper mounts and the experts said I had Ceriani lowers (because of that thredless detail) on Mar triples. I see a set of 860/900 Marzocchi lowers on Ebay with smooth mounting holes...

1974 750 sport/GT bits wanted

I am looking for an ignition switch bracket for a 74 Sport or GT. The one under the left side of gas tank. Also want to find a good fuse box and cover. I will look into reproducing this item if I can find a good set. Lastly, I need a Ceriani triple tree set. My Sport came to me with Marzocchi triple...

Re: Rubber gasket for Sport side covers

Thanks Steve, I think the issues with mine are that the side covers I have may not be original to the bike since if I use the existing holes the side covers are slammed up against the frame leaving NO room for the gasket. The next issue is that the material that came with the collection of parts may...

Rubber gasket for Sport side covers

I am restoring a 74 Sport and when using the new rubber trim gasket that keeps the side cover from rubbing the frame the holes will need to be filled re-drilled. Is the current material available thicker than original or is this common? Also, when painting the side covers is there replacement mesh a...

Re: removing old steering lock on a 74 Sport

Thanks geodoc!

I am a BMW /2 owner too and am aware of Duane's knowledge. Also Vech has a similar method. Just checking to see if this is the gold standard.

removing old steering lock on a 74 Sport

Key is long gone but I have a brand new blank. I did order a new complete Nieman lock. Can anyone tell me how to remove the old one? Drill it out and if so tiny drill bit towards top or big one to drill out the entire lock. Doing a top notch restoration so don't want to screw this up. Frame is bare ...

Re: Rebuild seat for 74 Sport

Fred, I'm in the same boat. My newly acquired 74 Sport came with a replacement seat base. The seat is not attached and the lock is missing. McMaster Carr has an impressive offering of cam locks that I think I can find one to work if we could just get someone to post a photo or two. I need to see a c...
